A member representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mrs. Aishatu Jibril Dukku, has empowered 300 women in her constituency with 10 thousand naira each.
Speaking after the distribution in Dukku, Dukku Local Government Area, Mrs. Jibrin said the empowerment programme was the first in a series, intended to enhance the domestic businesses of women in the area.
She said she was prompted to provide the intervention due to the economic hardship bedevilling the globe, which had pushed a lot of families into poverty.
The House of Representatives member commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and his wife, Asma’u for creating an enabling environment for women in the State to make meaningful contributions in the governance of the State.
She also commended the Inuwa administration for executing many projects in the constituency especially, those that were aimed at uplifting the educational standard of girls.
In the same vein, Governor Yahaya gave the assurances that his administration would prioritize Dukku and Nafada Local Government Areas in the execution of some projects, especially in the provision of water.
The Governor commissioned an ongoing rehabilitation of all boreholes from Gombe Abba River into Dukku town and promised to dredge all the water dams in Dukku LGA because of their age-long challenges of potable water.
He equally thanked the House of Representative member for Dukku/Nafada for the empowerment programme and promised to continuously work with her to enhance the lives of the people of the constituency.
Also, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, commended the empowerment programme, saying it will go a long way in alleviating the challenge women face in the home front and their position as homemakers and nation builders.
She, however, warned the beneficiaries against the mismanagement of the funds.
