The Federal Government of Nigeria has formalized an agreement with the Adamawa State Government to improve healthcare services by converting Cottage Hospital Hong and General Hospital Mubi into Federal Medical Centres.

The Honourable Coordinating Minister for Health & Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Daju Kachollom (mni), described the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a strategic step to align with the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The signing ceremony marked a milestone in advancing healthcare infrastructure in Adamawa State and the North East region.

“This initiative is crucial to enhancing healthcare delivery, not only for Mubi and Hong but also for the North East and neighboring countries,” Professor Pate stated.

He emphasized that the conversion of these facilities into Federal Medical Centres is designed to elevate healthcare standards and ensure better service delivery.

The Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, who presided over the event, lauded the Federal Government for its visionary approach to strengthening the state’s healthcare sector.

She highlighted that the initiative aligns seamlessly with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s priority to improve healthcare services across the state.

“The state government remains fully committed to supporting these institutions to ensure their success,” Professor Farauta assured.

The State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Chief Felix Tangwami, also expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare for its efforts to uplift healthcare delivery in Adamawa State.

The MoU signifies the Federal Government’s broader objective of improving healthcare infrastructure nationwide, with the upgraded Federal Medical Centres expected to serve as a beacon for medical excellence in the region.

“This collaboration is set to bring significant benefits to the people of Adamawa State and beyond, enhancing access to modern healthcare services and advancing the nation’s healthcare agenda.”
