FG restates commitment to support local inventions
Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering dedication to promoting and supporting local inventions to amplify ingenuity and propel socio-economic development within the country.
The minister pledged to support Nigerian inventors during a visit from the Association of Nigerian Inventors led by its National President, Mr. Lawrence Nzenagu, in Abuja.
He highlighted that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda includes provisions to stimulate indigenous inventions, thereby boosting the capacity of inventors to drive the economy.
He affirmed that the ministry is steadfast in its commitment to promote and support innovative and technological initiatives from indigenous inventors.
The minister emphasized that the ministry’s dedication to advancing innovative technologies includes creating a conducive environment for the commercialization of local inventions.

“The challenge of nation-building is a challenge for all. So, you should ensure that your inventions can contribute to the growth and development of the nation,’’ he said.
Nnaji said the world acknowledged the pivotal role played by Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in the development of nations.
He emphasized that no nation can achieve meaningful development without Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI). Earlier, Nzenagu expressed that the purpose of the visit was to seek support for the association’s inventions, lamenting the slow pace of commercializing these innovations.
“The act of commercialisation of inventions and creative arts is weak and needs to be encouraged. I believe if the private sector and investors also come in to support the government in this area, it will be easy for us,” Nzenagu said.
