FIBA Afrobasket 2021: Rwanda restricts attendance to jabbed fans
Rwanda Basketball Federation has made it mandatory for fans to be first vaccinated before being allowed into the Kigali Arena to see the Africa Basketball championship that kicks off on Tuesday, 24th August.
According to the federation, fans must have taken at least the first dose of a Covid vaccine before allowed into the arena.
This 30th edition of the 16 national male teams championship known as AfroBasket, was moved back a week due to the Covid pandemic.
“For those who are not vaccinated yet, a vaccination desk will be established” at the arena, the federation said in a statement.
Spectators will also be required to present a negative test result, and buy an entrance ticket of at least $7.
Tunisia are the defending champions.
Nearly a million people in Rwanda have received at least the first jab since the vaccination campaign started in February.
