FIFA has signed a partnership agreement with the Board of Peace to mobilise global investment, for sustainable development projects in conflict-affected regions through football-based initiatives.
The Board of Peace, created under US President Donald Trump, convened its inaugural meeting with a focus on a reconstruction fund for the Gaza Strip, aimed at rebuilding the enclave once Hamas disarms.
However, key uncertainties, including disarmament, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the scale of reconstruction funding and the delivery of humanitarian aid, are expected to challenge the initiative’s effectiveness in the near term.
Under the collaboration, FIFA plans to construct 50 mini-pitches near schools and residential areas in Gaza, five full-size football fields across various districts, a state-of-the-art football academy and a new 20,000-capacity national stadium.
Trump said FIFA would raise $75 million to support these sports-related recovery projects.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the agreement as a landmark step toward leveraging football as a tool for post-conflict recovery. He noted that the partnership is designed to deliver measurable social and economic impact at every stage.
Beyond infrastructure, the programme will prioritise job creation, youth participation, organised leagues for boys and girls, community engagement and the stimulation of local economic activity, positioning football as a catalyst for long-term stability and development.
