Firm partners with Nasarawa State on donkeys, cattle breeding
To boost animal husbandry and shore up foreign exchange earnings, Nasarawa State government has partnered ETS Emmalex Global Limited on a donkey and cattle breeding scheme.
To this effect, the company recently acquired about 2.254 hectares of land at Angwan Mainasara, in Karshi Development Area of the state.
Speaking on the development, the Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Chief Chidebe Sunday Nnabuike, said the initiative was in response to Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine’s quest to establish donkey and other animal value chains and stall their extinction.
Nnabuike further disclosed that the firm would soon extend the same project to Kebbi and some Southern states, where it would replicate the template.
He added that the company would deploy its wealth of experience to assist the Federal Government to check the activities of smugglers who often kill donkeys.
According to him, donkey’s skin is important due to gelatin deposits, which Nnaibuike said Chinese for their traditional medicine called Ejiao.
The firm chief explained that since the acquisition of the land for the rearing of the animals, it had made tremendous progress in donkey and cattle breeding.
He, however, called on the Federal Government to tackle insecurity, especially around farm settlements across the country.
