The first batch of 558 Kwara State pilgrims have returned home safely after completing the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

The contingent arrived at the Babatunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, aboard a Max Airline flight at 6:19 a.m. on Saturday, led by Hajia Khadijat Otuyo, a Board member of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board.

The pilgrims expressed gratitude to Allah for a spiritually fulfilled journey and lauded the State government for its welfare and support.

Alhaji Uthman Iyanda-Muhammad (Sannu-Sheu), the “Mufasir Agba” of Ilorin, described this year’s Hajj as “exceptional,” praising the top notch welfare arrangement for Kwara Pilgrims, including the provision of local food for them.

One of the pilgrims, Prince Muhammed Esuwoye dismissed social media rumours claiming that Kwara pilgrims were stranded, he clarified that flight schedules are solely managed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), not the State Pilgrims Board.

Another pilgrim, Alhaja Magaji Habeebat thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the financial support that eased their stay in Saudi Arabia.

The pilgrims also appreciated the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board for the seamless arrangements, including good accommodation, good meals and effective transportation throughout the Hajj rites.
