First Lady Distributes Exercise Books To Pupils, Students

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, says the current administration under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will continue to accord education the prominence it deserves.

She adds that education is very vital for the development of the nation thus, all children must attain it.

She made the declaration at the flag-off of the distribution of exercise books to public primary school pupils and junior secondary school students across the Nation.

The event took place on Friday at the headquarters of the Police Officers Wives Association, Abuja.

The exercise which is under the Education Program of her pet project, the Renewed Hope Initiative, which will give each state of the federation 50,000 exercise books while Kano and Lagos States will get 100,000 exercise books due to their population.

Mrs. Tinubu said the distribution, which would be through each State’s Universal Basic Education Board may be an annual event.

“There is nothing too much to do for our children. We have started the distribution with Lagos State and today the wife of the Kogi State Governor will receive for her State,” the First Lady stated.

She advised the children present to be focused on their studies noting that the administration of President Bola Tinubu will do right to ensure a good life for all the children.

“Stay in school. Do not join bad gangs; don’t succumb to peer pressure. We will do all we can for you to get a good life,” she told the students.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr Hamid Bobboyi, applauded the First Lady for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of writing materials to the school system.

“This will go a long way in rectifying the lacuna and improve our school system. This donation shows that she is really committed to making the lives of children and even women too, better,” he said.

With the flag off, the Wives of the Governors, who are the state coordinators of the Renewed Hope Initiative, would begin to pick up their exercise books immediately for onward distribution to the public primary school pupils and junior secondary school students in their respective States.
