Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 500 women by providing them with household items to help boost their businesses.
The distribution took place in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, where she officially launched the initiative.
During the ceremony, she expressed her commitment to supporting women’s economic empowerment and fostering their ability to thrive in their businesses.
This event marks the beginning of a broader effort to assist women across the country. The empowerment packages which included deep freezers, gas cookers, standing ovens, grinding machines and generating sets among others, were presented to the vulnerable beneficiaries courtesy of the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Represented by the Wife of Nasarawa State governor, Mrs. Silifat Abdullahi Sule urged the women to make judicious use of items the items in order to help both the family and others around them.
“These items were sent by the first Lady through me for you to benefit”.
“Every beneficiary must provide her form with her pictures on it before she would be allowed to collect any items here”.
The Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Mrs. Elsie Monde, appreciated the First Lady and urged the women not to sell the items instead use it to empower themselves.
She commended the women for their resilience and support to the Nigerian nation, calling for maximum cooperation to build the country together.
Also speaking the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mr. Emmanuel Yonah, commended Hajiya Silifat for coordinating the empowerment spearheaded by the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs.
He also appreciated the office of the first lady for her tireless effort in promoting gender equality and women empowerment through initiative like the Renewed Hope Initiative.
Beneficiaries Liatu Abari from Lafia LGA, and Mohammed Hauwa from Toto LGA, appreciated the first Lady for this gesture and promise to make judicious use of the items.
