The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has restated that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is focused on education and youth development.
She says this is to ensure a more formidable future not only for the youth but the nation as well.
The First Lady was speaking during the commissioning of a 2.7km road and ultra-modern male and female hostels at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Mrs. Tinubu also assured that the administration will surely deliver on its promises to Nigerians.
“It is worthy of note that the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR is one that is focused on education and youth development, to ensure that all our youth have unhindered access to education irrespective of their financial status.
“To this end, the National Students Loan Scheme was introduced, and I urge all our youth across the country to avail themselves of the opportunity presented by this Students Loan scheme,” she said.
Stressing the importance of Infrastructural development within an academic environment, she said they depict progress.
“The significance of continuous infrastructure renewal cannot be overemphasized in creating a conducive academic environment.
“Roads have always been a symbol of progress which opens up pathways to safety and economic growth,” the First Lady added.
Mrs. Tinubu commended the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi for constructing the road and hotels for the University of Ife.
She said: “All hands must be on deck and join with the Federal Government in its pursuit of a greater nation in support of the education sector and infrastructure renewal.
“At this juncture, I commend and thank His Imperial Majesty for celebrating his Golden Jubilee in such a noble manner. Fifty years is not just a marker of time, but a testament to wisdom and leadership.
“The deep-rooted love that you have shown for your people and kingdom since your ascension to the throne is heartwarming and commendable. Part of the activities leading up to the big day is the commissioning of a 2.7-kilometer road named after me within the premises of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, my Alma Mater. I am humbled and thank you Kabiyesi.
“Roads have always been a symbol of progress which opens up pathways to safety and economic growth. It is my hope that this road will become a valuable asset for the University and facilitate easy access for the students and the entire University community.”
Mrs. Tinubu, who decried the state of infrastructure at the institution pledged to support in restoring its glory as she also pledged one billion naira from the Renewed Hope Initiative, while also calling on wives of state governors to lend a helping hand.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke who was represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, commended the various initiatives of the President and his wife.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Professor Adebayo Bamire noted that the revived Student Loan Scheme by President Bola Tinubu is one of the right steps taken by the current administration to fix the education sector.
The Ooni of Ife described the First Lady as a compassionate, devoted, and caring woman who has the love of God at heart.
The First Lady, an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, was presented with various paintings by a group of orphans, former street young boys, and men who are being reintegrated into society by the Ooni of Ife.
