Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians in the diaspora to support the Tinubu administration by partnering with relevant government agencies to promote innovation and national development.
Mrs Tinubu appealed during an interactive session with Nigerians living in Qatar, held on the sidelines of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) in Doha, where she participated in key discussions on advancing global education.
She noted that Nigeria—through the efforts of the present administration—is steadily reclaiming its place and dignity among the comity of nations and urged citizens abroad to play their part by contributing their knowledge, skills, and innovative solutions.

Many of the Nigerians in attendance are showcasing startups and technological innovations at the summit. The First Lady commended their achievements, describing them as worthy ambassadors of the country.
“The Nigeria that gave us the opportunity to become who we are today—our youth also deserve that same opportunity,” she said.

“We must remain optimistic that our nation will be great again. I thank you all for making Nigeria proud. But you have to do more. Engage with students and young people back home. Help them develop a new mindset and see the bigger picture.”
In an effort to strengthen collaboration, Mrs Tinubu referred some of the innovators to the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa—who was also present at the meeting—for possible partnerships.

She stressed that greater progress could be achieved when Nigerian startups at home and abroad work closely with government institutions.
During her engagements in Doha, the First Lady also received members of the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Federal Universities of Nigeria, who were in Qatar for the Education Beyond Borders Conference.
