As Christian faithful in Nigeria join their counterparts around the world to celebrate Christmas, the wife of the President, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, has urged them to embrace the values of kindness and compassion.
The First Lady gave the advice in a Christmas message to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.
She said, “Merry Christmas! In this Yuletide season, as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ with our families and friends, let us be reminded of the values that unite us — love, compassion, kindness and generosity. It is a time to count our blessings and extend a helping hand to those who need it most.”
Mrs Tinubu also prayed for peace across the country, calling on Nigerians to live in harmony irrespective of religion or tribe.
She said, “We thank the Lord for His faithfulness, and we pray for peace in our nation, for the safety of Christians, Muslims and those of other faiths.”
The First Lady further expressed optimism about the coming year, wishing Nigerians unity and prosperity.
She added, “I wish each of you a peaceful and joyous holiday season, and I pray that 2026 will usher in greater unity, renewed hope and prosperity for us all. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
