Five die in Kabul car bomb blast

At least five people, including four doctors, were killed after a magnetic bomb attached to their car exploded in the Afghanistan capital, Kabul.

Kabul Police spokesman, Ferdaws Faramarz, said the doctors were heading to the Pul-e-Charkhi prison, located on the eastern outskirts of Kabul, which hosts hundreds of Taliban fighters.

It was not immediately clear if the doctors were targeted in Tuesday’s attack. The fifth person killed in the explosion is yet to be identified.Faramarz said.

”Two others were injured in the explosion,” Faramarz said.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack which damaged nearby buildings and shops.

Attacks continue
The ISIL (ISIS) group is said to be behind multiple attacks in Kabul in recent months.

ISIL also claimed responsibility for Saturday’s rocket attacks at a United States military base in Afghanistan.

”Although, there were no casualties in that assault,” NATO and provincial officials said.

On Monday, gunmen murdered Afghan Journalist Rahmatullah Nekzad, the third reporter to be killed in two months in the eastern city of Ghazni.

The previous day, a car bomb explosion in Kabul killed at least nine people and wounded more than 15. Victims include a Politician, Khan Mohammad Wardak, Afghan Interior Ministry said.

Violence in Afghanistan has spiked even as the Taliban and Afghan government negotiators hold talks in Qatar, trying to hammer out a peace deal that could put an end to decades of war.
