The musical project pays tribute to the cultural bonds that link Africa and its diaspora, celebrating the rhythms, traditions, and historical narratives that traverse continents.
Showcasing a blend of global talent from reggae legends, Afrobeat icons, and emerging stars in Afrohouse and Amapiano, the EP features artists like Stephen Marley, Buju Banton, Flavour, The Scorpion Kings, and others, all produced by Oskido and Gordon “The Commissioner” Williams.
The much-anticipated One Drum EP has been released, delivering a vibrant mix of Afrobeats, reggae, and Amapiano sounds that celebrate the cultural ties between the African continent and its diaspora.
Following the successful launches of hit singles like “AfroWave” by South Africa’s Scorpion Kings and “Let’s Dance” by Nigerian star Flavour, the EP is set to make a significant impact with its diverse and innovative tracks.
Leading the way as a breakout hit is “Stop Stressin’,” a dynamic collaboration between reggae icons Stephen Marley and Buju Banton.
This track masterfully combines Afrobeat and reggae, produced by renowned South African musical innovator and multi-Grammy award winner Gordon “The Commissioner” Williams. With its uplifting lyrics, thumping bassline, and infectious beats, “Stop Stressin'” conveys a message of resilience and positivity, establishing itself as a highlight of the One Drum EP.
Adding to the EP’s vibrant energy is Sofiya Nzau’s “Besa,” which is poised to become a massive dancefloor hit globally. The song features two captivating versions: an Afrohouse rendition with deep African rhythms and an energetic Amapiano interpretation that transforms it into a must-hear club anthem. Sung in Kikuyu, Sofiya’s charismatic presence and powerful vocals shine, showcasing her versatility and global appeal.
Sofiya Nzau, whose star is on the rise, expressed, “The energy behind ‘Besa’ embodies freedom, joy, and the heartbeat of Africa. I aimed for the song to reflect our essence while inspiring people to dance.”
Other standout tracks on the One Drum EP include the deeply spiritual “Coming Home,” featuring the late Joseph (Mercar) Marley alongside his brothers Zion Marley and Thee Legacy, a South African isicathamiya group. This soulful ballad encourages the African diaspora to reconnect with their roots.
The One Drum EP is not just a collection of songs; it is a celebration of cultural unity and heritage, showcasing artists from around the globe who come together to honor their shared history and rhythm. Featuring remarkable collaborations from Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond, this EP is set to be a groundbreaking musical experience.
