Flood Victims In Adamawa Receive Relief Items Worth N10m

The Adamawa State government has distributed relief items worth over N10m for victims of windstorms and flood disasters in the Demsa local government area of the state.

The State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta said the effort is to cushion the effect on those affected by the flood in the Demsa Local Government Area of the State which is among the 13 local government affected by windstorms and flooding, due to the release of water from the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon.

Two hundred and fourteen communities across 13 local government of Adamawa State, were affected and are in dire need of relief materials.

The donation of relief items worth over N10m for the victims in the Demsa local government area was part of the commitments that Governor Amadu Fintiri made to the people to relieve their difficulties occasioned by the natural disasters.

Stuff distributed includes food items and building materials among others.

The Deputy Governor reemphasised that the government understands their difficulties, hence the donation to ease the hardship.

The gesture was a demonstration of love, compassion, sympathy, and empathy of the State Governor,” She said

Other government speakers during the distribution of the relief materials tasked the beneficiaries to reciprocate the government’s efforts through judicious use of the items.

The government delegation was earlier at the palace of the traditional ruler, Hamma Bata, Homun Teneke to pay homage.

The Deputy Governor intimated to him the purpose of their visit, stressing the need for the royal father to count on the government which is committed to always stand by him and his subjects.

The traditional ruler on his part testified that the leadership qualities of Governor Fintiri are worth emulating.

The fresh air administration always gives them a sense of belonging through several interventions in Demsa, I am optimistic that the items will be delivered to those it is meant for,” the traditional ruler added.
