However, accompanying official Sunday Okayi said the youthful Flying Eagles had to make the most of their skills to dominate the game against “the grown men” Burundi played.
Both teams will square off in the return leg which is billed for Friday, 10 June in Calabar, Nigeria.
The winner in the two legs will progress into the final round of the qualifiers.
The 20th edition of the U-20 AFCON comes up next year in Zambia.
