Research Council Gets 1650 Scientists To Boost Agricultural Research

The Agricultural Research Institutes of Nigeria ARCN, says it has recruited 1650 scientists to boost Research activities in specific research areas to boost food security.
The Executive Secretary of the ARCN Professor Garba Sharubutu , made the disclosure during a media briefing with Agriculture Journalists in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Professor Sharubutu stated that the Federal government approved the recruitment with specific instructions to recruit plant breeders as this was an area Nigeria needed more hands.
“The Federal government approved the recruitment of 1650 scientists to boost the staff strength in the areas of research particularly the instruction is for us to recruit breeders, those who that are going to bring about the genetic improvement of our local crops”
According to him some of the new scientists have already been trained and they are expected to pass on the knowledge by training the others under the supervision of the Council.
Professor Sharubutu added that the council will continue to embark on capacity building for staff of the Council to enhance productivity.
