As parts of efforts to encourage community development, the Geezers Football Academy is set to organise a nationwide football league across secondary schools in Nigeria.
This was disclosed by the Director Media and Publicity of Geezers Sports Limited Abuja, Pelumi Olajengbesi, during its end of year media parley in the nation’s capital.
According to him, the competition is to begin in 2025 with the pilot project initially starting from the Federal Capital Territory.
“The pilot project will fly in the FCT next year to demonstrate the capacity of what we intend to do,” Olajengbesi said. “We are using this opportunity to call on partners to be part of this nationwide project.”
“We believe will it create an enabling environment for young people to discover themselves particularly through football. We look forward to collaborating with key stakeholders in football, education and community development to create sustainable opportunities for young talents across Nigeria.’’
Olajengbesi further disclosed plans to commencer an award programme which will be tagged ‘Africa Role Model Awards’.
“The intention is for young aspiring football stars and youngsters in all endeavours to have people they can look up to as role models,” he added.
