Former Governor of Abia State in South-East Nigeria, Senator Theodore Orji, has adjudged the election process as good and urged the residents of Abia State to remain peaceful as they vote for their candidates.
Orji, who is the Senator for Abia Central, gave the advice after casting his vote at Ugba Primary School, Urban 1, in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.
He said he was impressed with the process so far” and commended the people for coming out en mass to exercise their franchise.
The former Governor said the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC knows their mandate and must deliver.
He said: ”We expect INEC to conduct a free, credible, transparent and acceptable election in all the parts of Abia State.”
Though electoral materials arrived at polling units late, the former governor appealed to INEC to ensure enough time was given for the residents to cast their votes.
The BVAS is working well in major polling units and there is a smooth process of the exercise under the watch of the Nigerian Police and other security agencies including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
They are 17 local governments and 4069 polling units in the state.
Voice of Nigeria reports the election is taking place in 3 Senatorial Zones and Eight Federal Constituencies in Abia State.
