Despite the Nigerian governing party, the All Progressives Congress, APC zoning the position of the National Chairman to the North-Central of the country, a former governor of Zamfara State, North-west, Abdulaziz Yari has purchased the Expression of Interest and Nomination form to run for the position of National Chairman.

A pro-Yari group picked the form of 20 million naira on behalf of the former governor from the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

Senator Tijani Kaura, who spoke to journalists on behalf of the delegation, said they zoned the position of National Chairman to the North; therefore, their actions were in order.

“There are contending issues concerning zoning. First, we know fully that the national championship has been zoned to the north and the Presidency to the south. All party positions that were hitherto in the south will go to the north. Zamfara being in the north, is well qualified.

“We are very ready for the convention come 26th; Yari being one of the founding fathers of this great party, has contributed immensely to the betterment and welfare of the party. He is ready to lead the party and will not allow it to die,” Kaura said.

APC has scheduled March 26 to hold its National Convention, where members of the party’s National Working Committee will be elected to lead the party for the next four years.
