No fewer than ten thousand people returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State following the defection of Dr. Joseph Kigbu back after his voyage to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

At the grand reception ceremony for the defection at Lafia square, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state appreciated and welcome the defectors to the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the State.

“I welcome our dear brothers, our friends who return to the House that he helped set the foundation, Dr. Kigbu did not come alone but came with a lot of friends as every one of them has battalion of followers”. Governor Sule noted

The theme is: All-inclusive party politics for Peace, Unity, and Progress.

Receiving him back to the party, the guest speaker of the occasion, Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara extolled his leadership progress and commended Dr. Kigbu for returning to the party.

According to Dogara, “I am a stakeholder in Nasarawa State and I’m happy to grace the occasion. Politics is nothing more than the resolution of the intricacies of human conflict that suggest that without conflict there is no politics. In Nigeria all of us are aware of the challenges prevailing this country and the only thing that would resolved both the National and State challenges is politics”.

“With politics comes leadership, not only leadership but effective leadership that would deliver peace. It is politics that would deliver the peace that we yearn for both in the National level and the State as well. Without peace one cannot achieve unity because Unity is a consequence of peace and Justice”. Dogara noted.

Democracy as we all know is a game of numbers and at the same time a game of interest.
These returnees according to Dr. Kigbu are from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), and other opposition political parties in the State.

“I thank God for giving me this opportunity because my story is that of the prodigal son. I have travelled into a long journey, a journey into the wilderness and realized that I was in pain. Therefore, we met as a group to came back home”. Dr. Kigbu said

“We have come to add value to All Progressive Congress (APC) family in Nasarawa State, we have not come to divide nor to spike anybody but to move the State forward. We remain and adopt your blue print to exceed all expectation in the governance of the State”. Dr. Kigbu added

Dr. Joseph Kigbu is a former member representing Lafia/Obi federal constituency from 2011-2015 on the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
