A Former Minister of information, Prof. Jerry Gana has charged the Nasarawa state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria to promote peace and unity among residents of the state.
Professor Gana gave the charge Saturday in Lafia during the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected CAN officials in the state.
Gana who is also the Chairman of the inaugural occasion explained that the challenges facing the nation were enormous which is why religious leaders have to put in more effort in talking to their congregations about the need for peaceful co-existence in their communities.
“Our country is currently being faced with so many challenges and I think that it is important for religious leaders to start preaching peace to their followers so that we can experience fast and steady growth in Nigeria.
” It’s my prayer that the newly inaugurated Nasarawa state CAN officials receive extraordinary anointing for good leadership and I also pray that God will guide them because they will be exercising the authority given to them for the good of the people”, he added.
Also speaking at the event, the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule who was represented by his Special Adviser on Youths and Sports Development, Mr. Yakubu Kwanta called on the new CAN officials to be good leaders and give priority to the growth of the state while pledging the sum of N10m to the association.
Speaking after taking the oath of office, the newly inaugurated CAN Chairman, Very Reverend Sunday Emmah appreciated the entire body of Christ in the state who through the five Blocks entrusted them with the privilege of serving the Christians in the State.
“I urge you all to keep faith in our country and in CAN. I call for your support during this inauguration by assisting us financially to run the programmes we have put in place for the good of the body of Christ in the state.
“CAN relies solely on the charity of good men and women who want the spread of the gospel and to build the kingdom of God here on earth”, he added
