Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has commissioned a newly built Old Garage-Okefia-Lameco dual carriage road in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The former President inaugurated the road on Tuesday as part of activities marking Governor Ademola Adeleke’s second year in office.
Speaking on the 2.7-kilometer road, Obasanjo said the project was a testament to the governor’s ability and performance.
He said those who doubted his ability earlier as a leader would now see him in a different light, especially through his work and achievements in the state.
“As we commission this road today, you have proved your critics, who ridiculously tagged you as a dancer wrong because they can now see your work and know that you are also a performing governor,” Obasanjo said.
The former President thereafter endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office.
Governor Adeleke, in his own remarks, said his passion for excellence was driven by a determination to serve his people and leave a legacy of good governance.
He vowed never to relent in his efforts but to take Osun State to its next level of greatness, where development would not only get to all corners of the city centres but also the rural areas.
“Our infrastructural agenda is not a political show. We are focused on making history and leaving a legacy of service to our people. We want history to record us as true agents of good governance.
“In our quest to develop the capital city, we are upgrading all other major towns and zones. We are targeting infra upgrade of Ile-Ife, Ilesa, Iwo, Ede, Ila Orangun, Ikirun, Ikire among others,” he said.
The Governor named the 2.7-kilometer dual carriage road after an illustrious son of Osogbo land, Abdulfatai Adekilekun Ajadi Badmus.
