Nigeria’s Former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of elder statesman, renowned industrialist, and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Paul Mumeh, on Saturday in Kano, Mark extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Kano State over the loss of the iconic nonagenarian, who died at the age of 94.
Describing Dantata as a man of integrity and compassion, Mark said his life was a testament to humility, selfless service, and an unwavering commitment to the betterment of society.
He praised Dantata’s exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s commercial growth, educational advancement, and humanitarian development, noting that he was the illustrious son of Alhaji Alhassan Dantata—one of West Africa’s most influential merchants in the early 20th century.
Mark also highlighted the late Dantata’s pivotal role in expanding the family’s business empire across diverse sectors such as construction, agriculture, banking, and oil and gas.
He commended Dantata’s enduring legacy as a mentor to many business and civic leaders across generations.
“Alhaji Aminu Dantata was more than a business icon. He was a symbol of modesty, religious devotion, and community service,” Mark noted.
He said that Dantata’s philanthropic interventions, especially in education, healthcare, and social welfare, touched countless lives across Nigeria.
Mark concluded by praying for the repose of Dantata’s soul and hoping that his exemplary life and legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
