Senator Commended For Giant Development Strides

A former Nigerian Senator, Dr. Alphonsus Ubanesse Igbeke has been commended for being a shining beacon of philanthropy, community builder, and public servant, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless Nigerians.

The commendation was made by the National Coordinator of the Presidency’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Council, Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu in his birthday message to the former lawmaker turned philanthropist.

He said that as a community builder, Senator Igbeke has been instrumental in transforming his Senatorial Zone through various infrastructure projects.

His contributions include the construction of boreholes, roads, hospitals, skills acquisition and town halls, which have significantly improved the standard of living for the residents.

“It is a time to reflect on the remarkable life and legacy of this extraordinary individual. For over three decades, Senator Igbeke has been .A true visionary and leader, Senator Igbeke has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the betterment of society through his numerous philanthropic endeavors. Even before he vetured into politics, his generosity knows no bounds, as evident in the remarkable gesture of giving out tens of cars in one day in the early 1990s, giving out scholarships, building of roads, Town Hall, borehole, Street lights, extension of supply among others for his community. This selfless act of kindness exemplifies his character and dedication to empowering others.

” Furthermore, his scholarship awards have enabled numerous students to pursue their educational dreams, fostering a culture of excellence and academic achievement,” Mr. Nwachukwu said.

He pointed out that Senator Igbeke’s impact extends far beyond his local community.

“As a successful business mogul and Chairman of the Ubanesse Group, he has created numerous job opportunities and economic growth through his entrepreneurial ventures. His influence has even reached the international stage, with his name becoming synonymous with the music of Morocco Maduka in early 90,s” he said.

The ambassador noted that however, Senator Igbeke’s greatest legacy lies in his unrelenting commitment to public service.

Stressing that his exemplary political career has seen him hold various positions of great responsibility, including Director General of the APGA campaign organization in Nigeria.

 “Member of the House of Representatives, and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He has also was nominated by the Presidency and served as a delegate to the National Confab, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Anambra State, Financial Consultant to ALGON (774 local governments in Nigeria) and Chairman of the National Working Group (TWG- NGEP/ALGON) for Nigeria’s National Gas Expansion Program. 

“As an institutional consultant, he’s consulting for so many government agencies including the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. A member of the International Society of Diplomats,” he said.

He also said that as Nigeria celebrates the birthday of Senator Ubanesse Igbeke, it is a time to honor his contributions and express gratitude for his tireless efforts to better the lives of the Nigerian people, adding that his legacy serves as an inspiration to future generations, reminding everyone of the power of philanthropy, community building, and public service.

The SDGs Ambassador prayed that Senator Igbeke’s birthday be a joyous celebration of his remarkable life and that he continue to be a beacon of hope and change for the people of Nigeria and beyond.
