Nigeria’s Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away on Friday, June 29, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the age of 94.
Atiku, accompanied by members of his entourage, arrived at the Dantata family residence in the Koki area of Kano on Sunday afternoon, where he was warmly received by senior family members.
He later proceeded to the Government House to sympathize with Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the people of the state over the loss.

In his message, the former Vice President described the late Dantata as an exemplary Nigerian and a distinguished philanthropist whose business legacy extended across Nigeria, Africa, and beyond.
He said, “he was a truly detribalized Nigerian who combined traditional values with modern business acumen. His generosity and service to humanity will never be forgotten.”
He prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and eternal mercy upon the late elder statesman and urged the family to take solace in the impactful life he lived.
In response, Governor Yusuf and members of the Dantata family expressed gratitude to the former Vice President for the visit and his words of comfort during their time of grief.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata was buried at the historic Baqiyya Cemetery in Madina, Saudi Arabia, in a ceremony attended by dignitaries and loved ones from across Nigeria, who offered prayers and tributes in his honour.
