The Gbagyi Elders Forum has praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing Mr. Zephaniah Bitrus Jisalo, a prominent Gbagyi figure, to the cabinet, highlighting the significance of this move for inclusive governance.

The Gbagyi people, primarily from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Niger, and Kaduna states, have long sought more representation.

The Forum emphasised the appointment’s importance not only for fostering national unity but also for recognising the Gbagyi as key stakeholders in Nigeria’s governance.

The Board of Trustees Chairman of the Gbagyi Elders Forum, Mr. Peterson Kaura, expressed the belief that Jisalo’s appointment as Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs would strengthen the nation’s unity.

He pointed out that this appointment elevates Abuja’s role as a Federating Unit and gives the Gbagyi people, the FCT’s majority indigene group, a voice in the government.

In addition to celebrating the appointment, the forum used the occasion of Gbagyi Day to unveil the Gbagyi Elders Forum, marking a step toward the peaceful development and future sustainability of the Gbagyi people.

They reiterated the community’s values of integrity, industry, justice, and hospitality, emphasising the importance of dialogue, negotiation, and intellect over conflict and violence.
