Forum urges Sokoto Eastern leaders not to politicise security

Sokoto East Progressive Youths Forum, SEPYF has called on leaders of the zone that comprised 8 local government areas not to use their personal interest or political affairs on the issue of security of the zone.

 

Coordinator of the Forum, Mr Sanusi Sidi, made the call while briefing journalists over some burning security issue of the zone in Sokoto State.

 

Sidi said despite the socio economic activity that boost the area has stop due to insecurity, but yet some group of selfish leaders want to use the chance as a tool to achieve their political interests.

 

“Notwithstanding all these unnecessary attempt to use this particular zone as a tool to garner political chance; they have never shown any sympathy to the victims that of this insecurity either through provision of relief materials or otherwise,” he said.

 

He explained that the zone now requires only improvement in its socio economic activities and restoration of peace not some emphatic political moves to achieve any persons or group of person quest.

 

He condemned the leaders for forming an Association of Sokoto Eastern Zone Development without carrying everyone along.

 

Sidi however expressed the forum appreciation on efforts put by the Nigerian Security in tackling banditry and kidnapping in the area.

 

He urged the security operatives to redouble their efforts and ensure peace return to the zone.

 

The Eastern Zone of Sokoto State comprised eight local governments which includes; Goronyo, Gada, Gwadabawa, Illela, Rabah, Isa, Sabon Birni and Wurno respectively.
