Fosla Academy Wins National Principal’s Cup

Nigeria’s first and foremost premium independent football Academy, Fosla Academy of Abuja are Champions of the maiden National Principal’s Cup after the Abuja-Karshi based academy showed class and superiority to defeat Christ Comprehensive School 2-0 in the final.

Playing on the traning ground pitch at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Fosla Academy represented the North-Central zone at the final while Christ Comprehensive School Kakuira from Kaduna State represented North-West region

Present at the event were Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare, Former FIFA Executive Committee member, Amos Adamu, Former Director of Sports, Alhassan Yakmut, and former Principal’s Cup players Joseph Dosu and Tajudeen Disu.

The match which kicked off at 11:36am was cagy in the early stages but Tukura Joel broke the deadlock when he beat the offside flag to slot in the opener in the 23rd minute.

While the Kaduna boys were still recovering from the shock of conceding, it was followed by another quick goal from Tukura again. He fired in a sublime shot from outside the 18 yard into the right corner of the post in the 24th minute to weaken the stubborn Kaduna boys.

The scoreline ended 2-0 at half time. After the resumption of proceedings, Christ Comprehensive School mounted series of pressure on their opponents but it ended in futility as the scoreline remained the same at the end of regulation.

With this feat, Fosla Academy has become the pioneer winner of the maiden National Principal’s Cup.

Minister of Youth and Sports Sunday Dare hands the trophy to the captain of the Fosla Academy team

“The standard we have seen on display gives me hope of a bright future for our football and other sports,” the  Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare said during the event.

“I’m excited that this event has lived up to our expectations. The future is indeed very bright for our budding talents.”

Fosla Academy is owned by former Nigeria Football Federation, NFF President, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi who oversaw the affairs of the federation from 2006 to 2010.
