Speaking during the commencement of the exercise at Katsina Eye Clinic, a member of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, Mr Hussaini Kabir, said the gesture was part of their corporate social responsibilities.
According to him, over 500 patients with various eye problems were screened to benefit from the gesture.
Kabir said that some of the patients were given free treatment and drugs, while some of them who required medical glasses were given.
Kabir said, “Those patients that need glaucoma surgery, we referred them to a series of investigations.
“In our office, we used to register people with such health problems, any time the exercise commenced, then we call them.
“And we used to make announcements through Radio or television, so that the public should be aware.
“The foundation is exclusively for empowerment, development, educational, charitable purposes and supporting the poor and vulnerable in the area of healthcare and economic skill.”
Kabir added that the foundation, which was initiated since 2016, has been sponsoring the treatment and surgery for vulnerable people with hernia, hydrocele and eye problems.
