Salma Attah Foundation has donated free menstrual kits to young girls in Anguwan Tukara Bosso Community, in Niger State.

The Team Leader of the foundation, Ms. Amrah Aliyu, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Aliyu said that the gesture which is in line with the foundation’s ten-day campaign tagged “Periodswithoutlimit”, was done to commemorate this year’s World Menstrual Day.

According to her, the campaign is aimed at breaking the barriers and challenges that hinder access to proper menstrual care and the limitations associated with it.

She added that aside from the donations, the foundation also shared vital information on menstrual hygiene, and debunked myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation.

Through open and honest conversations, the girls gained a deeper understanding of their bodies, fostering a sense of self-confidence and empowerment.

“Menstruation should never be a barrier to a girl’s dreams, we believe that every girl deserves to feel confident, comfortable, and empowered during her menstrual cycle.

“By providing education and support, we hope to break the stigma surrounding menstruation and create a future where girls can thrive without limitations,” she said.

For her part, Programme Assistant at the foundation Ms. Maryam Dalhatu, called on the government and policymakers to provide free menstrual kits to young school girls.

By advocating for a policy change and increased support, we hope to create an environment where every girl can focus on her education without the added burden of inadequate menstrual hygiene resources.

“We firmly believe that providing menstrual hygiene products to school girls is not only a matter of dignity but also an investment in their education and future.

“It is time for policymakers to prioritize this essential need and create policies that support the menstrual health of every girl in our nation,” she added.
