French Football Federation Says Criticism Of Qatar ‘Excessive’

French Football Federation President Noël Le Graët has moved to once again defend Qatar as the host of the 2022 World Cup.

“I believe there has been an excessive campaign against Qatar. But you know, we like to be a little excessive in France on a lot of issues,” Le Graët said during an interview with Luxembourg-based broadcaster RTL.

“I look at football. I leave it to politicians to do their job,” he added.

Le Graët had previously opposed the idea of players wearing a rainbow armband at the World Cup.
