French President receives honorary citizenship

French President, Francoise Hollande speaking at the second Regional Security Summit in Abuja.

French President, Mr. Francoise Hollande has been conferred with the honorary citizenship and presented with the key to the City of Abuja.

The Minister of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Muhammad Bello, while welcoming the visiting President in Abuja, described the City as the symbol of national unity of the country.

Mr. Bello explained that the Honorary Citizenship of Abuja conferred on him comes with all the rights and privileges.

Security and trade
He said that the honour has been bestowed on the visiting President as mark of respect for the strong friendship and cordial relationship between the people of Nigeria and France.

President Hollande, who arrive the country with strong delegation of French government and businessmen to attend the second Regional Security Summit holding in Abuja, promise to work harmoniously with Nigerian government in the area of security and trade.

President Hollande noted that Nigeria and France have long standing historical and diplomatic relationship that would be strengthened for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
