FRSC Arrests Traffic Violators During Sallah celebration

The Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sokoto State Command, Kabiru Nadabo, says over 347 Traffic Violators have been arrested by the personnel of the command during a special patrol between the 6th and 13th of July, 2022.

 

Nadabo, stated this while briefing newsmen on the successes recorded during a one-week special Sallah patrol conducted by the personnel of FRSC across Sokoto State.

 

According to him, a total of 347 offenders who committed different offences were stopped; out of which 130 were caution, while 217 were also booked for various offences.

 

He added that during the period 7 road traffic crashes which involved 13 vehicles and 39 persons were recorded.

 

“Among the roads traffic recorded is that 4 of the crash cases was fatal, claiming 10 lives in the process, while 3 other cases left 19 people with various degrees of Injuries.

 

“the 19 injured are all at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital receiving treatment,” Nadabo noted.

 

The Sector Commander decries inadequate awareness among women driving across the state.

 

He said about 65% of women driving in Sokoto State do not have a driving license and valid vehicle documents.

 

Nadabo urged women motorists to always ensure they register their vehicles before embarking on driving for safety consciousness at all times.

 

Commendation

He commended Corp Marshall, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, for his unflinching support to the command.

 

He however applauded the Sokoto State government and the Sultanate council for their kind support and cooperation in assisting the command in realising its set objectives.

 

He also expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation shown by other sister security operatives during the exercise in the State.

 

Nadabo, however, seized the opportunity and called on owners of arrested vehicles to appear with immediate effect at the command to settle their fines and claim their vehicles or risk auctions.

 

According to him, the command had concluded all arrangements with the court to secure warrant to auction two cars and over 58 motorcycles that were arrested by personnel of FRSC and abandoned by owners for about 9 years at the command.

 

The Sector Commander equally thanked the media for their various enlightenment programmes for motorists which contributed immensely to the reduction in traffic offences across the State.
