The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has commended the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for its swift action in addressing service delivery concerns, resulting in the nationwide clearance of the driver’s licence production backlog and the full restoration of the system.

The commendation followed the Council’s formal communication of 7 November 2025, after which the FRSC carried out a comprehensive internal review that identified bottlenecks within the national driver’s licence production process.

Following this review, the Corps restored full system functionality and introduced strengthened monitoring measures designed to prevent future service disruptions.

According to a statement issued by PEBEC Director General, Zahrah Mustapha Audu, “the FRSC’s rapid corrective actions demonstrate a renewed commitment to effective and efficient public service delivery.”

The Council noted that “the FRSC successfully cleared accumulated backlogs and expanded its daily production capacity to 15,000 driver’s licences, marking a major step forward in improving service efficiency across its operations.”

A key innovation highlighted by PEBEC is the rollout of the Contactless Biometric Capture System, designed to enable the issuance of permanent driver’s licences within 48 hours and eliminate the need for temporary licences.

The Council described the initiative as ‘a transformative reform aligned with its mandate to promote regulatory efficiency, enhance transparency and improve the overall citizen experience.’

PEBEC also urged applicants whose licences have already been produced to visit FRSC centres nationwide and collect their permanent licences.

Voice of Nigeria reports that the call aligns with FRSC’s sensitisation campaign aimed at clearing more than 294,000 unclaimed licences in order to decongest service centres and further improve turnaround time.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Ministries, Departments and Agencies to deepen reforms that support seamless, responsive and business-friendly public service delivery across the country.
