“A functional and reliable clinic with medical equipment is essential in both public and private schools to take care of emergency health needs of children,” Solomon stated.

He decried the situation where most schools lack the first aid equipment to treat pupils or students who had minor emergency health needs.

“Every school, either private or public-owned, must have the required medical equipment to attend to students or staff in any emergency situation.

“Safety first no matter the quality of education. Health should be first priority in any school.

“I call on all schoolproprietresses and also public schools principals to equip their school  clinic.

“Government should equip public schools to save students’ lives. Education without safety is nothing,” Solomon said.

He also called on education stakeholders and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to invest in school medical equipment to save lives.
