Gains persist as Nigerian equities market appreciates by N182bn

It was another day of gains on the equities market on Tuesday as market capitalisation rose by N182 billion to close the day at N25,448 trillion naira as against N25,266 trillion on Monday.

 

The benchmark index also inched higher by 0.72 per cent or 337.08 points to close at 47,205.03 points compared with 46,867.95 points recorded on Monday.

 

Investors traded 245.42 million shares worth N4.58 billion in 5,832 deals on Tuesday.

 

The market sentiment also remained positive as trading closed with 30 gainers and 17 losers.

 

CAP led the gainers with N1.80k gain to close at N19.80k. It was followed by Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals with N0.34k gain and a closing price of N1.56k and Meyer Plc with N9.12k gain and a closing price of N1.36k.

 

Conversely, Academy Press came out last with a loss of N0.16k to close at N1.44k followed by Caverton Offshore Support Group which lost N0.13k to close at N1.18k then Royal Exchange lost N0.10k to close at N0.94k.

 

For the second consecutive day, Guaranty Trust recorded the highest volume of 39.1 million shares and was followed by Zenith Bank with 27.2 million shares.
