Gains persist on equities market as index rises by 0.27%

The gains recorded on the equities market on Wednesday were sustained on Thursday as the all share index appreciated by 0.27% to close at 47,286.44 basis points being 129.11 basis points higher than Wednesday’s 47,157.23 points.

Market capitalisation also rose by N69 billion to close at N25,480 trillion compared with N25,411trillion on Wednesday.

At the end of Thursday’s trading session, a total of 198.11 million shares valued at N3.41 billion were traded in 4293 deals just as the market recorded 30 gainers and 9 losers.

Guiness Nigeria led the gainers chart with N5.00 gain to close at N55.00,followed by Total Nigeria which gained N23.90k to close at N264.90k and UPDC which gained N0.10k to close at N1.11k.

Conversely, Veritas Kapital Assurance came out last on the losers chart with a loss of N0.01k to close at N0.22k and it was followed by Union Bank Nigeria which lost N0.20k to close N6.05k then Ikeja Hotel which lost N0.04k to close at N1.42k.

Chams recorded the highest volume of traded shares of 16.7 million followed by Transcorp Nigeria with 15.4 million  shares.
