Galaxy BackBone (GBB) is participating at the ongoing 10th General Meeting of the National Council on Communications and Digital Economy in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The theme for this year is “Digital Innovation & Entrepreneurship as a Panacea for Challenges to Sustainable Economic Development in Nigeria” is chaired by the Nigerian Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Pantami.
Galaxy Backbone provides quality IT infrastructure and shared services for the Federal Government as well as the private sector from its ICT Infrastructure that will enhance and promote government’s digital services in a smart, secure and sustainable manner.
The Managing Director Professor Muhammed Bello Abubakar in a statement gave the assurance that the Galaxy Backbone will continue to deepen its partnerships with local ICT companies across the country in ensuring that more organisations at the state and local levels benefit from its connectivity rollout and digital services and solutions.
Among the services are its Datacentre , Cloud and Cybersecurity Services, smart home plans (e-Connect services) which offer Fibre-to-Homes, Fibre- to-Estates and Fibre-to-Small Offices for those residing within the Federal Capital Territory – Abuja.
Through these, Professor Abubakar said GBB is projecting the strength of its fibre connectivity services as a way to connect more people, improve efficiency of businesses and enhance the productivity of their clients.
“For the purpose of supporting colocation, hosting and disaster recovery for organisations, GBB has Uptime Certified Tier III & Tier IV Datacentres that are available and accessible for use by both the public and private sector organisations.
“Establishing and sustaining a secure and certified datacentre within the nation’s public sector space, is a great feat indeed” he stated.
To strengthen its asset base and guarantee information assurance, the Managing Director disclosed that the agency is now deploying state-of-the-art digital infrastructure and applying international best practices to backstop public sector organisations’ sensitive data and enabling a growing number of private sector organisations with digital services to facilitate their digital transformation journey.
He said that the level of professionalism on offer coupled with about 12years experience as ISO27001, ISO 20000 compliant and recently PCI DSS certified to support the Financial Sector, has become a reference point for other organisations that are considering getting on the GBB platform.
According to Professor Abubakar “the huge investments that have gone into this infrastructure are for the benefit of the public and private establishments and the experience of GBB in building, deploying and providing infrastructure as a service, is a testimony to its ability to manage and continue in this line of business” the Galaxy Backbone Boss noted .
He said that the organisation was using the exhibition to showcase its innovative services and partnerships to drive the Nation’s Digital transformation agenda and the realisation of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) 2020-2030.
The programme is being attended by heads of various parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Commissioners of Science and Technology and heads of ICT agencies from the 36 states of Nigeria among others.
