The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje alongside other stakeholders of the party on Wednesday officially commissioned the Benue State Secretariat of the party in Makurdi, the State capital.
While inaugurating the secretariat located at Railway Market, Mr Ganduje reaffirmed the resolve of the party to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“APC is the custodian of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. APC is solidly behind the Tinubu’s administration to succeed as the country is in dire need of someone that would lift it out of poverty”.
The former Kano State Governor said the party had designed a template and blueprint for all its political party offices ranging from council, ward, Local Government, State, zonal and national levels to be made habitable, functional and operational across the 8,803 wards in the country.
“With the earlier pronouncement that APC is not business as usual, we are changing the narratives. Previously political parties only became active during electioneering campaigns, but in APC, we have decided to make APC active throughout the campaigns and beyond”.
Purposeful leadership
The APC National Chairman expressed satisfaction with the renovated, rehabilitated and decorated secretariat and thanked the leadership of the party for naming the APC Secretariat after President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I also thank you for naming the conference hall after my name. I thank you and I know this is the home of APC, but I know after some time APC went on sabbatical leave but I am happy the sabbatical leave has ended and APC is back in Benue State”.
Mr Ganduje also commended the Secretary to Government of the Federation, SGF Senator George Akume, describing his office as the backbone of the present administration.
“His office is the chief implementor of public policies. Let me also thank your Governor, a God-fearing person, a person that I found so simple. Cooperate with the SGF and the governor, this is the only way that we can continue to forge ahead”.
Sustaining party unity
Former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha
commended leaders of the party in the state for ensuring that the party structures work to achieve the existing unity in the party.
Boss Mustapha commended the leadership of APC for acquiring a befitting secretariat that houses different activities of the party in the state.
“You can see that with this, the benefits of democracy will continue to flow into Benue State now that you have stabilized and entrenched yourself within the dimension of progressive politics”.
He urged the party to sustain the support for the president because it is important. “Keep supporting the SGF to ensure that he attracts a lot of dividends of democracy to the state. If you distract him, those dividends will not come, so, keep supporting him.”
Consolidating APC in Benue
The chairman of APC in Benue State, Comrade Austin Agada recalled that before the general elections, APC in the state had a few members in both the State and National Assembly but emerged victorious with an overwhelming majority after the elections.
“Today, Benue is totally APC and we shall continue to remain behind the Ganduje-led APC and President Tinubu-led administration.
Comrade Agada thanked the SGF for donating the secretariat building to the party and the NASS caucus for supporting the funding of the secretariat assuring that the party will not relent in the task of carrying out the policies and programmes of President Tinubu’s administration.
Agada particularly thanked President Tinubu for appointing a Benue man as SGF, a reason he said informed the idea to name the secretariat after the president.
He said: “My great people of Benue State, just as I have always said, the movement is beyond sectional and party sentiments, rather, it is a consolidation of the gains of my administration in the past years, having restored the State from its deplorable condition.
“I cannot walk through this alone, your mandate I hold for the first four years and your mandate I seek for the next four years. Together, we have recovered our dear State, rehabilitated our institutions and reconstructed our infrastructures”.
