General Lagbaja Commissions TYB Golf Clubhouse

The Tukur Yusuf Buratai (TYB) International Golf Resort and Country Club House has been Commissioned by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

The Commissioning of the Golf Club House took place at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Barracks, Asokoro, Abuja on Tuesday 14th November, 2023.

General Lagbaja, the Grand Patron of the Golf Resort and Country club while Commissioning the project said the Golf Clubhouse serves as a point of convergence for golfers and non-golfers to socialize.

He noted that the era where golf was considered an elite game may be a thing of the past and has become a part of the Nigerian Army.

The Grand Patron said the Golf Course will commence hosting international tournaments soon which will contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality industry.

The COAS further said the Army Headquarters will sustain its focus on enhancing NA’s administrative standard by constructing infrastructures and remodeling dilapidated ones to meet international standards.

The commissioning, according to General Lagbaja marks the beginning of a new chapter in golfing in the NA and will enhance camaraderie as well as esprit de corps amongst sister services and other security agencies.

He stressed that sound administration is a key component of his Command Philosophy and under his leadership, the Nigerian Army will be deliberate in its efforts to enhance both the welfare of its personnel and operational capabilities through relevant development projects, to build a lethal force for combat effectiveness.
Speaking earlier, the Captain of the Club, Major General Samson Jiya stated that the Golf Course will be a haven for golfers seeking to improve their skills, socialize and create lasting memories.

He appreciated the Grand Patron and Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja for his continuous support to the club house, as well as members of Country Club and the community of golfers.
