Rebecca Mu’azu, Gombe
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) In the Gombe Central Senatorial District have resolved their differences and declared support for Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya as the leader of the party in the state.
This was part of resolutions reached at the end of an enlarged stakeholders meeting of the zone in Deba, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government of Gombe State.
The stakeholders, while pledging to eschew bitterness and rancour also pledged to continue to operate as one united and stronger APC family under the leadership of Governor Yahaya.
They passed a vote of confidence on the governor and maintained that the decision to declare their unflinching support for the governor became necessary due to his policies, laudable programmes and political direction.
Reading out the resolutions of the enlarged stakeholders meeting, the Member Representing Yamaltu-Deba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Ahmed Abubakar Yunus, said the APC party stakeholders in the Central zone were satisfied with Governor Yahaya’s performance in the last two years, such as the diverse and equitable distribution of his administration.
“We commend the Governor’s political sagacity and magnanimity as well as his avowed commitment to the growth and consolidation of the gains of our great party in the state and country in general. We wish to also commend and appreciate His Excellency, the State Governor for the various appointments given to our sons and daughters into key positions from the Zone.
“We equally, acknowledge the unique leadership style and approach to matters of Security which have largely led to the attainment of peace and tranquillity in the State,” Mr Yunus said.
The stakeholders congratulated Governor Yahaya for the successful conduct of ward congresses, which they described as all-inclusive, hitch-free, credible, free and fair, as well as devoid of any rancour and acrimony and in line with the provisions of the APC constitution and guidelines.
Various speakers during the meeting took turns to speak, all praised Governor Yahaya for his leadership style and developmental projects in the zone and the state as a whole.
For the convener, Mr Abubakar Habu Muazu, Governor Yahaya became the governor through a clean and transparent means and remained loyal to former Governor, now Senator Representing Gombe Central Senatorial District, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje.
Similarly, the Member Representing Akko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Usman Bello Kumo, said the stakeholders mobilized the meeting mainly to garner support for the Governor and unite the party.
“Inuwa Yahaya remains the leader of the party just the way Yobe Governor is the leader in Yobe State even with the Senate President from Yobe State. The same with Plateau or Lagos States who have key Federal Government positions from their States.
“Any APC member in Gombe State who cannot be loyal to Governor Inuwa Yahaya as party leader should look for his own state elsewhere,” Usman Bello said.
