Gombe Governor Lauds Tinubu for Upgrading Kumo General Hospital

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the takeover and conversion of the newly reconstructed General Hospital, Kumo into a Federal Medical Centre, FMC.

Describing the move as a major boost for healthcare delivery in Gombe State and the Northeast, Governor Yahaya emphasized that the state-of-the-art facility would serve as a teaching hospital for the Federal University, Kashere and the Lincoln University, Kumo.

Governor Yahaya expressed optimism that training medical professionals at the facility would strengthen the healthcare and workforce of the state.

He reiterated his administration’s dedication to enhancing healthcare services, citing the remodeling of the specialist hospital in Gombe, upgrades to general hospitals in Bajoga and Kaltungo, and the construction of a new general hospital in Kumo.

 

 

According to Governor Yahaya, his administration has revitalized all 114 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state as part of the broader health sector reforms.

“I am excited about President Tinubu’s approval of our request to convert the General Hospital Kumo into a Federal Medical Centre. This decision will undoubtedly enhance healthcare services for our people in Gombe and neighboring states,” he said.

Governor Yahaya also extended appreciation to the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, for his support.

“The Presidency, in its announcement of the approval, acknowledged Gombe State’s commitment to healthcare improvement in line with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to drive comprehensive health sector reforms,” said Governor Yahaya.

Recall That Governor Yahaya disclosed plans to construct 114 additional Primary Healthcare Centres, one in each ward of the state, to further expand access to essential medical services for all citizens.
