Governor Muhanmadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has directed the immediate dismantling of all security checkpoints within Gombe State.
The directive was announced by the Commissioner of Information and Culture, Mr Meshack Audu Lauco, after a consultative meeting with heads of security agencies in the State.
However, the directive states that it does not affect checkpoints at the border with the neighbouring states.
It also directs that those at the boundary with other states would remain operational, but shall be closed for vehicular movement from 12 midnight to 6 am.
The Gombe State Government, therefore, urged citizens to cooperate with the directive in the interest of peace and security in the state.
