Gombe Governor supports establishment of Anglican Walter Miller College of Nursing

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, of Gombe State has pledged his government’s support for the establishment of the Walter Miller College of Nursing Sciences in Kaltungo.

The Governor expressed his optimism when while received a delegation of the Anglican Diocese of Gombe, who paid him a courtesy visit that the institution would contribute to the development of the state and beyond.

He acknowledged the crucial role of health institutions in training healthcare professionals and pledged to support and partner with faith- based organisations, development agencies and institutions to ensure adequate human resources for the state’s healthcare sector.

“The establishment of such institutions is a welcome development and a win for both the government and the people. Myself and the government of Gombe State will ensure to support the project, especially considering its potential to train our younger ones in healthcare,” Governor Yahaya said.

He commended the church for its peaceful conduct and urged them to continue promoting peace and unity in the state and the country, while emphasizing the government’s commitment to inclusivity.

“Government in its own part is trying to cater for all irrespective of their religious, tribal or sectional differences. That should be the spirit of true Nigeria and that is what we stand for in Gombe State,” said Governor Yahaya.

The leader of the delegation, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Gombe, the Rt. Rev. Cletus Ajigben Tambari, thanked Governor Yahaya for his inclusive leadership and for providing a peaceful environment that allows all religions to practice freely.

The bishop also expressed gratitude for the government’s infrastructure development projects, which had positively impacted the lives of the people.

He specifically acknowledged the road networks and other initiatives, which he said demonstrated the governor’s pragmatic, purposeful, and people-oriented approach to governance.

Equally, the bishop pledged the continued loyalty and commitment of the church to law and order, and the support for the government’s ongoing development initiatives.
