Gombe Governor Swears in New Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Head of Service

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has sworn in 17 Commissioners, 12 Permanent Secretaries and the Head of the State Civil Service.
During the swearing ceremony in Gombe, the governor assigned portfolios to each of the newly sworn-in commissioners, stressing that their positions emphasised their crucial roles in the successful implementation of the development agenda for the state.
The 17 newly appointed commissioners have been assigned the following portfolios:
1. Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri: Local Government and Community Development
2. Adamu Inuwa Pantami: Youth and Sports Development
3. Mr. Zubairu Mohammed Umar: Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
4. Dr. Abdullahi Bappa Garkuwa: Science, Technology and Innovation
5. Dr. Aishatu Umar Maigari: Education
6. Dr. Barnabas Mal: Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperatives
7. Dr. Habu Dahiru: Health
8. Dr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu: Works, Housing and Transport
9. Asmau’u Mohammed Iganus: Women Affairs and Social Development
10. Lt. Col. Abdullahi Bello (Rtd): Internal Security and Home Affairs
11. Mijinyawa Ardo Tilde: Information & Culture
12. Mohammed Shetima Gadam: Higher Education
13. Mohammed Gambo Magaji: Finance
14. Mohammed Saidu Fawu: Water, Environment and Forest Resources
15. Nasiru Mohammed Aliyu: Trade, Industry and Tourism
16. Salihu Baba Alkali: Budget and Economic Planning
17. Sanusi Ahmad Pindiga – Energy and Mineral Resources
The governor charged both the commissioners and permanent secretaries to view their appointment based on their qualifications, and as such carry out their functions with dedication, loyalty and commitment to the progress of the state.
Governor Yahaya reminded them of their vital role in formulating policies, implementing programmes and ensuring that the administration’s vision translated into tangible results for the benefit of the people.
“In the same vein, permanent secretaries are the fulcrum that forms the backbone of the civil service, as they help in providing administrative expertise in executing government programs and the continuity that is needed for effective and efficient governance.
I would like to remind you that your appointments go along with important responsibilities. You are entrusted with the task of serving the people of Gombe State with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
The decisions you make will have a direct impact on the lives of our citizens, and I have every confidence that you will approach your roles with a great sense of duty and the highest ethical standards,” said Governor Yahaya.
He reminded the newly sworn-in officials of his administration’s zero tolerance for corruption and incompetence, and such were required to be diligent in their duties and prudent in the management of the scarce resources, that would be placed at their disposal.
Governor Yahaya said Gombe Civil Servants were being held in high esteem and as such were expected to transform the civil service to achieve greater efficiency and improved service delivery.
He said he had directed the Bureau of Public Service Reforms to develop a proper framework for reward and compensation in the civil service, in order to enable the office of the Head of Civil Service and the Civil Service Commission to implement measures.
The measures are aimed at incentivising and compensating hard-work and applying appropriate sanctions against lethargy and poor performance.
Incredible performanSecretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, noted that the reappointment of some members of the State Executive Council justified their hard work, dedication and commitment to duty which ultimately impacted the incredible performance of Governor Inuwa Yahaya in the last four years.
Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in commissioners, the Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Zubair Muhammad Umar, thanked the governor for finding them worthy to serve the state, assuring of their total commitment to service, dedication and loyalty.
They pledged to accompany the governor to achieve his aspirations with honesty, loyalty and dedication.
