The Gombe State Government has graduated 500 members of Gombe State Security, Traffic and Environmental Corps, who underwent a two-week training.

They are among the  2000 youths the state government targets to employ, to compliment in improving and enhancing the enforcement of traffic, security and environmental laws and in all in the state.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, described GOSTEC as a home-grown innovation aimed at harnessing the energies of youths in state-building.

He said, with the training of the GOSTEC members in the operational areas of Traffic, Security and Environmental Management, the state governments had put measures in place to ensure their successful posting to their duty posts for immediate engagement across the 114 wards of the eleven local government areas of the state.

According to the governor, the graduation of the Batch A corps personnel has set the stage for the recruitment and engagement of another 500 Batch B intake, who would also undergo similar rigorous training processes and thereafter be posted accordingly.

He said this would continue until the target number of 2000 GOSTEC officers planned by his administration was met.

“Today history will be made as we witness the passing out of the first 500 Batch A GOSTEC trainees after two weeks of rigorous intensive training engaged by the State Government in collaboration with the At-Risk Children Project (ARC-P) national office,” said Governor Yahaya.

He encouraged GOSTEC to be upright in character and conduct themselves professionally in discharging their duties while appreciating the efforts of all stakeholders who contributed towards the success of the training.

“Our sincere appreciation goes to the consultancy firm responsible for the training of these energetic youths as well as the immeasurable supports from the hardworking para military agencies closely working together to ensure the trainees acquired the desired operational skills in their respective tasks. I commend the various stakeholders that contributed immensely to the realization of GoSTEC most importantly the offices of Gombe State Human Capital Development under Barr. Sani Ahmed Haruna and the Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment Haj. Maryam Uwais,” said Governor Yahaya.
