A coalition of opposition parties in Gombe State has formally adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform for the 2027 General Election.
The announcement was made at an Expanded Caucus Meeting, in Gombe by senior party officials and key opposition figures in the state.
Speaking at the event, former Federal Minister and Coalition Leader, Idris Umar, said the opposition’s alliance under the ADC was aimed at unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and rescuing the nation and its people from worsening socio-economic hardship.
Umar called on the electorate to make informed choices at the next polls, stating that voters hold the power to evaluate the performance of both the ruling party and the opposition.
He revealed that the ADC would soon begin membership registration across all 114 wards in the state, in a bid to broaden its base and strengthen grassroots engagement.
Umar also emphasised that the party remains inclusive and open to all Nigerians, regardless of background or previous political affiliation.
Meanwhile, the ADC State Chairman, Auwal Barde, welcomed new members into the party, assuring them of an open-door policy and opportunities to play meaningful roles in the party’s electoral success.
Barde underscored the urgent need for a shift in leadership at both state and federal levels, citing persistent challenges confronting Gombe and the country at large.
