Gombe Police Engage Communities To Mitigate Farmer-Herder Clashes

The Police Command in Gombe State is using community Policing initiatives to to avert farmers/Herders Clashes.
The commissioner of Police CP Hayatu Usman, gave directives to all Assistant Commissioners of Police, ACPOL, and Divisional Poli e OOfficers, DPOs, to
improve on visibility patrols and Engage with Community stakeholders as proactive measures to control the incidences of farmer-herder clashes in the state.
The Gombe State CP, who believes in community base policing issued these directives to all ACPOL’s and DPO’s as non – kinetic strategies in mitigating the Conflict between Farmers and Herders.
CP Hayatu, said that he had at the state headquarters level formed visibility patrols and surveillance teams, holds Briefing, stakeholders meetings and Media engagement to emphasize the importance of peace among the Farmers and Herders.
He called on farmer to, in the event of Encroachment to embrace dialogue and avoid confrontation and report immediately to relevant Authorities for necessary action.
He appreciates the people of Gombe State for their usual cooperation and support.
