The Gombe State Police Command has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating fire that broke out at Gombe Old Market in the early hours of March 4, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m.

The blaze consumed eighteen shops, resulting in significant losses for traders and business owners.

While grateful that no lives were lost, the command acknowledges the severe impact on the livelihoods of those affected.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In the meantime, the command urges market traders and the public to remain vigilant and prioritize fire safety measures to prevent future tragedies.
